Keep it Clean & Classy TMcD....

My AM workout was very successful. I truly love my morning workouts. Everything is new and fresh. I feel most vibrant and energetic first thing in the morning. It's as the day goes on that my energy wears down. I think that most people can relate.
After my training with Duane www.dmfit.org and morning cardio it was off to school. I was running tight on time so I decided to play it safe and have my Myoplex protein shake instead of making my own. I love the taste of EAS products and they are great when you don't have much time. They are great for grab and go. Plus they come in different blends such as carb control or lite. Each has a different amount of protein. I usually have a 42g for breakfast since this is the only thing I have in the morning. I have a 20g for a mid-afternoon snack.

Lunch consisted of chicken fajitas from Mexico Lindo. I know, I know..this is not the healthiest. I refrained from the cheese covered re-fried beans and stuck solely to the protein and veggies. I did have a little bit of the rice. I topped it off with a diet Coke. This is one area that I think truly adds to the waist line. I notice a significant difference when I have been eating clean for several days and I have a regular soda. My stomach distends and bloats. The sugar heads straight for the muffin tops!!!! Cutting out soda will seriously reduce the inches of your waist line.
Post work day work out. I wasn't really feeling a work out after work today. I had a massive headache, but earlier in the afternoon Heidi said she would do stadiums  with me. I decided to suck it up and do WORK. We arrived at the stadium ready to rock. We walked a lap around and did a full track warm up i.e., butt kicks, grapevines, toe touches, etc.. It's very important to get your muscles ready to work to prevent cramping and injury.

Many times when I plan a workout it can be quite intimidating. One way I keep myself from being overwhelmed or discouraged is to set smaller and obtainable goals. When starting a new regiment it's important to give your mind and body time to adjust. I know better than everyone how frustrating it is to see people do twice as much, twice as hard right by you and you think...why can't I do that??? I always had a tendency in the gym to focus on other peoples workouts and feel discouraged. I had to remember that I don't know their fitness ability, goals and background. My workout should be about me and what I want to accomplish. Forget everyone else!
So with my new workout partner in tow, I decided that we would start with two sprints on the straights of the stadium. I was excited and ready to go! We started off the line and kept toe to toe. Then before you know it Heidi was pulling away from me! I was like damn. She's got some speed. I was very impressed. I think its fun working out with someone. It creates this natural competition that is fun and makes you want to push yourself. She definitely beat me hands down in the second round.
After sprints we hit the stadiums. We decided to take on the end zone. We made it through one full rotation. After a good gulp of water and a catch of the breath we finished off the workout with a full series up the bleachers to the very top! Ladies, theses are butt blasters! It's amazing. They trick you too. You don't feel like its that hard until your about 20 rows from the top and all of sudden it hits you....complete fatigue and exhaustion. Your legs start to tremble and your chest gets tight, but you look up and you're like damn...I'm almost there. It is so difficult and yet so rewarding to get to the top!

I love sitting at the very top of the stadium and catching my breath. The breeze is completely invigorating and soothing all at the same time. One of my favorite parts about working out at the stadium is the inspiration I feel in the Swamp. I always think of the players and the struggles they feel. When I feel like giving up or stopping I think of my favorite players....Demps, Burton, Rainey....well lets be honest...I love all the Gators :)  They find it within themselves to push harder. Its easy to give up. It's easy to quit. There is nothing greater in this world than pushing yourself to the limit and making it through. Find a place, person or thing that gives you this drive! It helps so much.
We left the Swamp and headed home. It was time to hit the grocery store. I have been slacking on my home cooking so it was time to get prepared. I think one of the largest parts of being successful in your weight-loss program is PREPAREDNESS!  When I am unprepared I make bad choices for my food. I need to make a plan. I look at the week ahead and try to figure out what days are rougher than others. One of the hardest things to do is balance schedules and life.
My schedule this week is somewhat flexible. I know that this weekend will be busy so I planned to get some quick and easy meals. One of the most important tips I have read in many fitness books and blogs is where to shop in the store. Stay on the outer isles of the store and avoid the middle! It's amazing how true this statement is. Most of the inner isles contain sugar loaded foods. I try to buy mainly fresh foods although we do eat a lot of wheat pasta and rice.
One of the most frustrating things that has happened with food distribution is the mislabeling of products. Just because it says reduced fat doesn't necessarily mean its good for you. If it seems to good to be true....it definitely is...put it down and walk away! lol Michael and I spent a plethora of time reading labels and looking at what's in a product. I have been able to find some great items that are healthy and tasty. When it comes to grocery shopping I like to keep it clean and classy! lol Fresh foods and protein. NO DAIRY!!!!! Dairy=devil!

I think this basket full of goodies looks pretty delicious! For dinner I decided to go with the Margaritaville Lime Shrimp and brown rice. It was pretty quick and easy, which is always a plus! Overall, I think it was a pretty successful day :)
Gym in the am! Now for a good night of ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ's!

Cardio and Curbed Cravings...

Day two....
Well today was more successful than yesterday. I woke up and started the day off right with 60 minutes of heart pumping cardio! It felt good to get moving. I forget how much stress is released from a great workout.

After cardio I went next store to grab my morning protein shake. Simply Nutrition http://simplynutrition.co/ has the best smoothies. I had the "Duane Special" lol as I call it, which consists of a blueberry banana shake. They have all different additives to suit your nutritional needs. I got a scoop of protein and a scoop of energy boost. Like always, it was delicious!

FYI...their cups are organically certified! I love this place. I recommend checking it out. They are located near Publix on Archer and Tower Rd.
Post workout I felt great and had no doubts that I could conquer the day. I took the pups for a walk because little Elvis was getting quite stir crazy. We all enjoyed getting outside on such a magnificent day. There wasn't a cloud in the sky. After our walk we decided to relax.
I noticed that once I stopped moving and started to sit around that the cravings started to take hold. I wanted to eat, but nothing I had at home. Have you ever just stared aimlessly into your refrigerator and not a single thing looks appetizing. I felt that way. I felt completely restless. I wanted to do it. Get in the car and eat out. But I resisted the urge and made myself cook.
I made wheat pasta with organic sugar free sauce and a small chicken breast. I have to stop myself sometime. I have to take control one way or another. The cravings still linger, but I am determined to fight. I need to make the commitment to myself that this is a lifestyle change. This needs to be forever not just now because I want to loose weight. I honestly think that is why people struggle with getting healthy. We set a goal...loose weight. We meet our goal and get everything off. Then we think I can eat whatever I want again and BOOM...we've gained back everything we worked so hard to get off.
So when does it happen?
When does this become a lifestyle...
...today.

Round One...

Day One...
The morning started off successfully. I had a banana and orange vanilla protein shake.

It was quite simple to make using the Magic Bullet. This was my first time really using it and I love it!

The shake was pretty delicious.

Every morning I take a plethora of supplements. Fat burner, multi-vitamin, vitamin B, chromium picolinate, and the latest addition coconut oil. Coach thinks that the coconut oil will help my cravings for fat and greasy foods in the evenings.

Like I said the morning went well but as the day progressed things got worse. I had my protein shake around 10 am and started to feel a little nauseous around noun. I probably should have incorporated a wheat bagel with all the supplements. I think my stomach was too empty. I ate my protein bar at 12:30pm. This helped my nausea.
It was quite busy at work so I didn't eat my next meal until 5:30. It was Five Guys :( I had two hot dogs. LAME! Heidi and I were heading to pick up pizza for our basketball party and it came up that I had Five Guys the night before...I know its disgusting. She thought it sounded delicious and so did I. I was like, whatevs...I'll start tomorrow.
So we had our Five Guys. After an unsuccessful party I dropped Heidi off at home. I was craving something sweet and decided to stop....at McDonald's. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME????? I got a McFlurry and small Dr. Pepper. I chowed that down too. WTF!
I know I have a goal to reach. I know I want to reach it. So why do I continue to behave in this way? I don't feel good when I eat like this. I have noticed that this past week I felt tired and sluggish everyday. I have also noticed a significant change in my mood. I haven't been as cheery or happy.
I feel like I need shock therapy or something. Someone, please, help me!
